SenSee autism sensory device

Updated: Nov 2, 2024

Awards: Microsoft Imagine Cup Semi-finalist, Conrad Innovator

INTRO:

Even in today’s market, with an exponential increase in representation for Autism spectrum disorder, many problems still plague the community and their families. Children, with sensory issues regarding hearing (sensitivity, etc), are forced to wear uncomfortable, bulky, and heavy ear-muffs for hours on end, hurting their ears, and also uncomfortably standing out on a social basis. SenSee is proposing a fun and cost-effective solution to tackle this problem.

Starting at $13.99, SenSee is a child-friendly sensory device using cutting-edge noise

cancellation technology, with a fun and stylish look to it. SenSee is here to provide a solution to the conventional & uncomfortable industrial-grade ear muffs neurodiverse children have to wear. The automatic version will include an easy-to-use application so the guardians of the user can choose specific noises to listen to (or control noise reduction).

Context:

With an estimated 5-16% of school-aged children with sensory disorders, SenSee is going to be as optimizable and comfortable as possible – with a variety of foam material to choose from, alongside 3D printed bunny ears, frog eyes, dinosaur spikes, fairy add-ons, and much more. With gender specifics in mind, anyone can find the correct version of Sensee to buy. As a further matter, an ultra-customizable SenSee kit could also become available to purchase in the near future. SenSee will have two versions - one with automatic noise canceling and noise input, and one with traditional non-electrical lead foam. Users can choose what noises and sounds they want to hear - while also being able to adjust to outside noise.

Mission, Purpose, and Goal:

Our mission is to push for neuro-diversity awareness, while also making a positive difference for those with sensory/noise sensitivity. Products aside, we have the ultimate goal of creating a more inclusive and equitable society that celebrates and empowers individuals with differences. We’re here to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. The project's commencing goal is to have a variety of 20 different versions of SenSee headphones, style, and material inclusive, 6 months upon launch. Once customization is optimized, our product will have the true potential to help millions of children across the world with sensory disorders.

SenSee will be taking part in the Conrad Challenge, the Blue Ocean competition, toshiba's exploraVision, the Microsoft imagine cup, and the Diamond Challenge.
